ENNIS, Texas --

Kim and Greg Anderson
Today at the 18th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Fall Nationals in Dallas, Texas Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, clinched the 2003 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Championship.

This season Anderson has dominated the class. On his way to his first championship as a driver, Anderson has won nine races, qualified Number 1 twelve times and holds both the national elapsed time and speed records for the class.

“I do not think it has really sunk in yet,” said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. “This has been a spectacular season for this Vegas General Construction team. We have met or exceeded every goal we have set for ourselves. The result of our hard work is winning the Pro Stock Championship. Today, I am being crowned champion, but I did not become champion by myself.

“I would not be here today if it was not for my team owner Ken Black. Ken gave me the resources to hire the right people and have the right parts. He made my dream of a championship come true. If it were not for Ken, Ken Jr., Judy, Cory and all the employees of Vegas General Construction I would not be standing here today. I can never thank them enough.

“This is definitely not a one man show. I did not do this by myself. This championship would not have possible without my team. I want to thank my team; co-crew chiefs Rob Downing, Jeff Pearly and Jason Line. They worked hard for this championship. I also need to thank the guys in the motor shop; Joe Hornick, Todd Ames and Eric Maj. This is a team effort and they worked as hard at home as we did here at the track.

“It has been a long season. I have spent innumerable hours in the shop and at the track. My family has stood beside me and suffered for my dream. My wife Kim and my children Cody and Britney have sacrificed a lot. This championship is as much for them as it is for me. I can never give back the time I spent away from home, but I will spend the rest of my life trying.

“My dream of an NHRA Pro Stock Championship started back when I was a kid. I need to thank my parents My mother Joan, my Father Rod and my sister Terry for letting a kid dream and encouraging him every step off the way.

“I could have never dreamed that in my second full season as a driver that could win a championship. I do not think there is anyone out there that thought I could do it this quick. This is a dream come true for me.
