Beantown Rockers To Be Guests of Worsham Racing On Saturday

LAS VEGAS -- Legendary rockers Aerosmith have accepted an invitation to be the guests of Worsham Racing, featuring the Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Nitro Funny Cars (driven by Del Worsham and Phil Burkart) and the Artisan Home Entertainment "Terminator 2: Extreme DVD" Nitro Funny Car (driven by Arnie Karp,) during Saturday's qualifying action at this weekend's AC Delco Las Vegas Nationals. Juggling a busy schedule in conjunction with their concerts on Friday and Saturday nights at the MGM Grand, the Boston-based band plans to spend at least three hours at the "The Strip" on Saturday afternoon.

Arnie Karp, driver of Worsham Racing's Artisan Home Entertainment Pontiac, has been known as "The Boston Strangler"throughout his career and is an avowed Aerosmith fan. The mutual Boston connection was the foundation of the invitation.

"Being a lifelong Boston resident, I've been an Aerosmith fan since the beginning," Karp said. "We found out they were playing in Las Vegas on the same weekend as our race, and we started making calls to invite them out to the track. We're thrilled that they accepted, and even though they're very busy, they're going to great lengths to make the time to come out and see us and check out what we do.

"Through my son Michael, we contacted the band's Manager, Jimmy Eyers, and Jimmy ran with this and made all the details fall into place and made it all happen," Karp continued. "It's going to be great to have these guys with us, and I know every member of our team will be thrilled to meet them and show them what we do for a living."

Del Worsham, driver of the red Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Pontiac Funny Car, was quick to voice his excitement over the visit.

"We get to meet a lot of very interesting people because of what we do, and it seems like more and more stars from the music and entertainment fields have been coming to the races, but this is a special thing. I'll admit that I'm very excited to have the chance to meet Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer and host them in our pit area," Worsham said. "Hopefully, they'll have enough time to get up close to the action with us and get a real sense of the power of our sport. They're known for being one of the most powerful bands in the world, and I think they'll get a charge out of the sort of power we create. We're really looking forward to their visit."
