Pro Stock Bike Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Right Lane: Jay Matthews Runs 7.374/185.56, Now #11; No Prior Run

Matthew's first run was DQ'd because of weight. He makes a decent pass here and gets in the show for now in the 12th spot.

Left Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.790/169.49, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.750/172.45, Was #28
Right Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 7.808/162.96, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.822/165.82, Was #29

Lozano improves a little but still isn't close. No help for Matte.

Left Lane: Kenneth Martin No Time, Now #27; Best prior run: 7.741/170.56, Was #27
Right Lane: Jerry Jankanish Runs 7.524/176.97, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.674/170.47, Was #26

Martin did his burnout and then shutdown. Jankanish makes a big improvement but still isn't in the show.

Left Lane: Sam Hurwitz Runs 7.730/154.51, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.591/180.36, Was #25
Right Lane: Cary Phalen Runs 7.743/175.66, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.612/175.62, Was #26

No improvement for either driver.

Left Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.597/176.74, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.511/182.62, Was #21
Right Lane: Chris Reuter No Time, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.537/177.42, Was #24

Reuter left before the tree was activated and received no time.

Left Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.368/178.28, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.475/177.23, Was #20
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.508/173.54, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.511/179.85, Was #22

Helvie goes right down the groove and makes a big jump into the ninth spot. Harris improves slightly but still isn't in the show.

Left Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.465/180.77, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.474/183.07, Was #20
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.450/179.30, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.469/178.17, Was #18

Both riders move up a spot in the order but are still out of the show.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.380/178.99, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.470/182.01, Was #20
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.509/180.55, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.463/178.68, Was #18

Johnson is a little slower than Schnitz to the 60-foot mark, pulls ahead in the middle of the run. He gets in the show in the 13th spot for now. No help for Schnitz.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.419/183.44, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.392/177.51, Was #15
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.279/183.57, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.450/181.81, Was #17

Hines makes a great pass to get the Harley in the show in the top spot for now. That bumps out Camarena who is up in the next pair.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.409/185.69, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.383/175.39, Was #15
Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.466/180.24, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.431/178.68, Was #17

Camarena can't improve and will not make the field tonight. Brown slows from his earlier pass.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.327/186.48, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.364/185.05, Was #9
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.367/184.02, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.372/181.25, Was #12

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.286/183.44, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.356/180.89, Was #8
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.369/183.79, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.371/185.33, Was #12

Berry makes a big move and gets into the second spot. Phillips improves slightly but doesn't move up in the order.

Left Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.273/188.15, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.353/184.25, Was #8
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.306/184.85, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.361/179.64, Was #9

Stoffer has a the quickest sixty-foot time of the round so far, a 1.091, but slows a little near the end of the run. She still improves and gets in the top half of the field. Savoie makes the quickest run of the day and takes over the number one spot for now.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.374/186.61, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.329/182.53, Was #8
Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.323/184.30, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.342/184.85, Was #9

Collis improves from his earlier run and moves up a couple of spots to 7th. No help for Treble.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.300/182.85, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.312/181.13, Was #5
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 9.662/87.22, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.322/181.45, Was #6

Gann had the second quickest short time of the round, then has problems just before half-track and shuts down. Scali improves a little but can't get back to the top spot.
