Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Bob Glidden Runs 6.855/202.70, Now #1
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.935/201.40, Now #2

Glidden driving for Morgan and he runs his quickest and fastest pass of his career. This is the first time in competition Glidden has run faster than 200 mph.

Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.989/199.23, Now #4
Right Lane: Jose Maldonado Runs 6.880/202.24, Now #2

Rivera after running a 6.989 does not have any chutes and when he gets on the brakes he got loose and tagged the wall. He then spun around and put it into the sand trap backwards.

Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 12.451/70.64, Now #6
Right Lane: Mike Corvo Jr Runs 6.848/201.91, Now #1

Haas with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. Corvo with a 1.009 60-foot time.

Left Lane: Nick Fratt Runs 7.293/194.55, Now #7
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.930/200.08, Now #4



Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.814/202.94, Now #1
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.819/203.31, Now #2



Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 6.868/201.37, Now #5
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.920/202.58, Now #7



Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.806/203.80, Now #1
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 8.585/108.99, Now #13

Connolly with a great looking pass and goes to the number one spot for now. Wilson with tire shake and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.843/201.49, Now #5
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.824/203.31, Now #4

A couple nice pass to open the weekend for these two.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.819/202.64, Now #4
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.821/203.16, Now #5

The two Mopars go to the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 6.871/202.39, Now #12
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.802/203.25, Now #1

Allen with a great pass to go to the top of the list.

Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.838/202.15, Now #8
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.858/202.15, Now #12



Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.826/202.88, Now #8
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.839/202.55, Now #10



Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.799/204.23, Now #1
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.806/203.06, Now #4

WJ was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.806/204.17, Now #4
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.786/204.45, Now #1

Anderson with a great spot to grab the number one spot after day one.
