Pro Stock Bike Qualifying Notes, Session #2

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.415/175.84, Now #20; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 7.665/165.42, Now #22; No Prior Run

2:11 PM It's a bit warm and sunny today so the bikes will not have quite as good conditions as they had yesterday. Lozano and Helvie get their first passes of the weekend.

Left Lane: Redell Harris No Time, Now #24; Best prior run: 19.540/29.96, Was #24
Right Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.936/151.73, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.730/169.10, Was #23

Harris breaks right off the starting line and rolls to a stop before the tree. Matte slows from yesterday.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.306/182.11, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.335/182.28, Was #18
Right Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.547/176.44, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.479/177.39, Was #21

Schnitz bumps into the show but it most likely won't last the entire session. Freeman slows from Thursday.

Left Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 19.580/37.22, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.334/180.86, Was #18
Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 9.378/88.68, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.350/182.08, Was #19

Hale breaks right off the line as the bike is on the chip before the tree. Camarena sits up about half track and coasts on through.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.319/181.74, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.300/180.98, Was #15
Right Lane: Jay Matthews Runs 7.317/184.52, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.311/181.35, Was #17

Both riders slow very slightly form yesterday's times.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.214/184.98, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.292/183.12, Was #14
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.304/178.17, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.281/180.45, Was #13

Big move for Johnson as he goes from #14 to #9. Phillips slows.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.300/181.20, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.248/182.85, Was #13
Right Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.173/186.33, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.243/183.87, Was #12

Conner makes a big moves as well. He's now solid in the top half. DeSantis slows a nickel.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.213/184.50, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.223/184.65, Was #11
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.192/184.22, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.231/180.96, Was #12

Showers improves and so does Brown.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.275/184.98, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.188/185.46, Was #7
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.197/181.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.201/184.72, Was #10

Mixed results for this pair of riders. GT picks up ever so slightly but Berry slows almost a tenth.

Left Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.181/186.15, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.187/185.92, Was #6
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.144/183.29, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.199/185.87, Was #10

Almost identical to Thursday for Collis but Angelle picks up big. She's a top half player.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.185/186.20, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.185/186.43, Was #7
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.188/182.43, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.136/186.02, Was #3

Gann's pass is identical to yesterday in the ET department. Hines slows on the V-Rod.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.108/187.63, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.135/187.70, Was #2
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.203/182.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.119/181.91, Was #1

How's that for a big run for Scali and he's your new #1. Treble lost a tenth and drops into second in the field.
