POMONA, Calif. -- Showdown" The NHRA in conjunction with Skoal Racing today announced an agreement that will solidify Skoal Racing's participation in NHRA. Skoal Racings NHRA sponsorship includes NHRA POWERade Drag Racing and its Skoal Showdown, as well as NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing.

Skoal Racing will continue its valued relationship with legendary drag racer Don "The Snake" Prudhommes Snake Racing, along with Snake Racings Ron Capps and Tommy Johnson Jr. Capps and Johnson pilot the Skoal Racing Green and Blue Funny Cars respectively in the NHRA.

The Skoal Showdown, which takes place each year during the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, features the years eight best NHRA POWERade Funny Car qualifiers. Drivers accumulate points throughout the year to qualify for the Skoal Showdown. A race-day purse of $147,000 is available for the eight drivers competing in the Showdown, with the winner capturing the $100,000 top prize.

"Each year, Ron, Tommy and our Funny Cars are right there in the mix competing to win this exclusive competition, and Im proud to see one of Snake Racings primary sponsors assume the title sponsorship of the Skoal Showdown."

As a sponsor of NHRA POWERade and Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing, Skoal Racing will have an on-track presence at all 23 NHRA national events and all 10 Sport Compact events in 2004.
