CAYUGA, Ont. -- Construction continues at a rapid pace in preparation for the inaugural ACDelco Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park, August 9-11, 2002. Betty Krane, Director of Marketing for Toronto Motorsports Park, reports preliminary track grinding in advance of track paving was completed June 19, and construction of the new concrete guardrail is in its final stages. The base for the pit roads, entrance and the track padding will be laid Friday, June 21. Track padding, the area between the track surface and guardrail at the top end of the track will be completed Monday, June 23. Paving on the top end, concrete launch pad and staging lanes commences Wednesday, June 25. The track entrance will be paved Thursday, with any extra paving that needs done. All paving will be completed by Thursday, June 27. IHRA Director of Field Services Jim Weinert returns to Toronto Motorsports Park in mid-July to grind and re-profile the new track surface for the ACDelco Canadian Nationals. Krane reports the track is scheduled to begin racing on July 1.
