4:24 PM Tommy Johnson Jr., in his first final round at Pomona, has been to the finals four times this year and three of them have been against Force. Newly crowned 2002 Funny Car Champion, John Force, is making his tenth final this season. He is approaching Warren Johnson's record 303 straight races with 300 consecutive events where he has qualified.

The sun is starting to dip behind the grand stands and the header flames can be seen from the two Funny Cars engines. Force's .463 reaction time is his worst today, but he still runs away from Johnson to wrap up the Funny Car season with a convincing win.
