RALEIGH, N.C. -- CARQUEST Auto Parts will continue its relationship with NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Top Fuel driver Paul Romine in 2003. CARQUEST will be the primary sponsor for the complete 2003 NHRA season for Romine and his John Mitchell-owned Montana Express Top Fuel Dragster. "We are proud to continue our relationship with Paul in 2003," said Scott Ginsburg, CARQUEST Director of Advertising. "He has represented CARQUEST well since 1997 when we became his primary sponsor and we look forward to him competing at all NHRA events in 2003." Paul Romine stated. "CARQUEST is a great sponsor and is dedicated to drag racing," he said. "I am looking forward to representing CARQUEST for the complete 2003 NHRA season and hopefully getting them their first NHRA win and competing for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series championship." Romine is a three-time IHRA Top Fuel champion, winning titles in 1997, 1998, and 2000. His best NHRA event finish came at the 1998 NHRA all-star event in Rockingham, N.C. where he lost in the final to Kenny Bernstein. He has numerous NHRA semifinal finishes and has NHRA career bests of 4.648-seconds at 320.28 mph. Prior to his association with Mitchell, Romine drove for NHRA Top Fuel driver Doug Herbert in 2001 and 2002. Romine owned his own Top Fuel operation from 1997-2000.
