FMDRS 7-6 - Federal-Mogul Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the Division Seven FMDRS Final listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:


Left Lane: Michael Oliver Runs 6.359/217.46, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Andreotti Runs 6.072/233.40, Now #1

These guys used up all their lanes and both got real close to the centerline. Oliver apparently put some oil out on the track.

Left Lane: Larry Miner Runs 11.529/58.08, Now #4
Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.802/247.84, Now #1

Miner had a puff of smoke and threw out some parts and pieces around 300 feet. Harker straight down the groove with nice looking pass.

Left Lane: Bucky Austin No Time, Now #6
Right Lane: Marc White Runs 5.800/238.47, Now #1

White needs to go to the final here to take the Division 3 crown. Austin got out of the groove early in the run and close to the centerline. He reeled it back into his lane and then got loose again and head to the centerline and collected the 1000-foot cone. White was on a real good looking pass and was out ahead of Austin when he crossed into his lane.

Left Lane: Bill Gallio Runs 6.713/162.43, Now #6
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.790/246.80, Now #1

Payne the hottest Funny Car driver on the circuit looking to make it two for two here Vegas with great looking pass straight down the groove for the number one spot. Bill taking over the driving chores for his dad here with his first pass in competition.

Left Lane: Mert Littlefield Runs 6.053/236.05, Now #4
Right Lane: John Patton Runs 6.218/229.90, Now #6

Patton was all over his lane getting real close to the wall, while Mert kept it in the groove.

Left Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 8.744/104.82, Now #10
Right Lane: Bernie Harrington Runs 6.734/226.77, Now #9

Harrington launched into severe tire shake and pedaled it one time. Rupert also with tire shake and got out of the groove and when he pedaled it he got real close to the centerline and finally lifted.

Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.916/246.35, Now #5
Right Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 5.899/243.02, Now #4

This was a pretty good side-by-side drag race. Williamson was out of the groove, but kept his foot in it

Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.817/243.02, Now #4
Right Lane: John Weaver Runs 5.942/240.98, Now #7

Another good drag race here, both cars straight down Broadway. That wraps up round one of Federal-Mogul Funny Car. They will get one more round in the morning and then go into eliminations. Payne held on to the number one spot.
