By Rick Green

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the Division Seven FMDRS Final listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Bernie Harrington Runs 7.124/201.46, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.734/226.77, Was #13
Right Lane: Bucky Austin Runs 5.843/249.44, Now #5; No Prior Run

Harrington was real loose right off the starting line and had the car side ways. he was headed toward the centerline and he pedaled it and got back into the groove. Bucky kept it in the groove on this pass and drove it right into the top half of the field with a nice looking pass.

Left Lane: John Patton Runs 6.091/233.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.218/229.90, Was #11
Right Lane: Larry Miner Runs 12.919/53.84, Now #16; Best prior run: 11.529/58.08, Was #16

Patton was loose on the starting line and made a quick move toward the centerline, but was able to reel it in and improve on yesterday's time. Miner had problems right off the starting line, apparently he threw the clutch out. We are down for clean up of parts and pieces from Miner's car.

Left Lane: Mike Andreotti Runs 5.992/238.13, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.072/233.40, Was #10
Right Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 6.916/150.01, Now #15; Best prior run: 8.744/104.82, Was #15

Andreotti got out of the groove and headed toward the wall, but was able to reel it back in and get into the 5-second zone. Rupert made a big move in the right direction.

Left Lane: John Weaver Runs 5.911/242.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.942/240.98, Was #8
Right Lane: Bill Gallio Runs 6.269/220.84, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.713/162.43, Was #13

Weaver with a good looking pass to move up the ladder one spot. Gallio with only his second pass in competition made a move in the right direction.

Left Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 5.834/244.65, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.899/243.02, Was #6

Williamson with a great looking pass as he launched hard and drove it on through the quarter mile to move up one spot.

Left Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.837/247.20, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.802/247.84, Was #3
Right Lane: Mert Littlefield Runs 6.034/235.23, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.053/236.05, Was #10

Harker straight down the groove, but no improvement here and he will stay number three. Littlefield launched hard with a 0.993 second 60-foot time and then got out of the groove and real close to the centerline, but was able to get it off the centerline and back into his groove.

Left Lane: Marc White Runs 5.726/247.20, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.800/238.47, Was #2
Right Lane: Doug Gordon No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.916/246.35, Was #8

Gordon broke on the burnout. White launched hard with a 0.973 60-foot time and just stretched it out from there for the number one spot.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.732/249.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.790/246.80, Was #2
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.825/235.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.817/243.02, Was #4

This is a great pair to wrap up qualifying, either one of these two plenty capable of taking that number one spot away from White. Payne launched hard and was straight down the groove and improve, but not enough to knock White out of the number one spot. Gasparrelli not improving on yesterday's time, but running consistent this weekend.
