GLENDORA, Calif. -- The legends of NHRA drag racing will crown season-long champions in five professional categories at the 2001 NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony, Nov. 12 at Universal Amphitheatre near Hollywood.

The ceremony will provide an exciting finale for NHRA's 50th anniversary celebration and offer a tribute to the top 10 drivers among NHRA's 50 greatest, including the No. 1 driver. The top 10 drivers include Joe Amato, Dale Armstrong, Kenny Bernstein, John Force, Don Garlits, Bob Glidden, Bill Jenkins, Warren Johnson, Shirley Muldowney and Don Prudhomme.

In addition, the accomplishments of the 2001 champions will be highlighted. NHRA legends will be joined by celebrity guest presenters to award cash prizes and trophyware to the five Winston champions as well as honor drivers 2-10 in each professional category.

The Top Fuel and Funny Car champions will each take home a check for $200,000 while the Pro Stock champ will be presented a check for $125,000. Title winners in Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Stock Truck will be awarded $30,000 each. The seven NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series champions also will be recognized.

Several traditional special awards also will be given, including the Winston Rookie of the Year, the Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award, Don Prudhomme Award, Blaine Johnson Award, Manufacturer's Cup and many others.
