NOBLE, Okla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the NHRA Division 4 Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series Finale listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Jimmy Jones Runs 6.172/233.94, Now #1
Right Lane: Tate Branch No Time, Now #2

1:25 PM Jones was a little out of the groove at half track. There were some problems with the timing lights, and Branch chose to be pushed back to make his pass at the end of the round.

Left Lane: Thomas Frickenschmidt Runs 9.185/96.67, Now #3
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 6.184/223.32, Now #2

Frickenschmidt shook the tires on the hit, got out of shape, and was almost sideways at 500 feet before he shut it off.

Left Lane: Todd Simpson Runs 6.004/242.78, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Burck Runs 6.852/199.20, Now #4

Burck was out of the groove at half track and was off the throttle at 1000 feet. Simpson almost makes it into the 5's.

Left Lane: Kirk Johnson Runs 6.438/216.34, Now #4

Johnson headed for the centerline at 60 feet and the car stayed next to it almost all the way down the track.

Left Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 6.161/225.33, Now #2
Right Lane: Bob Alberty Runs 6.334/201.47, Now #5

Both cars were moving around early. Alberty had a flash of fire from under the car and blew the burst panel at 1000 feet.

Right Lane: Jackie Stidham Runs 6.089/237.15, Now #2

Stidham drove through a little tire shake on the launch, the car loose at half track.

Right Lane: Lawren Jones Runs 6.467/206.75, Now #8

Jones shook hard on the hit, the car moving around quite a bit. He left a piece of the car on the track at 400 feet, couldn't tell what it was from here.

Right Lane: Tate Branch Runs 6.043/239.36, Now #2

Branch had a little tire shake on the launch but was able to drive through it for an otherwise smooth pass.
