Results of round 2 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 17th annual Pep

12:38 PM Gibson left way early and then popped the blower about 300 feet out.
Hentges made a nice run, clean and straight.
Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
7 Tim Slagle 5.532 252.47 Q 2 Rick Santos 5.414 258.37

0.495 5.381 258.62 E2 *****WINNER***** 0.463 5.278 267.16
Santos came here to try to prevent Hentges from narrowing Santos' lead in the
Federal-Mogul championship points. Slagle made the run of his life, but so did
Santos, with the quickest run ever by a Federal-Mogul Dragster. He needs a 5.330
to back that up as a national record.
Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
6 Bill Reichert 5.529 256.21 Q 3 Cliff Bozzelli 5.473 256.31
(K Benkovich ) 0.537 5.517 262.13 E1 (B Horner ) 0.429 5.415 262.23
*****WINNER***** 0.486 5.316 266.21 E2 0.430 5.482 229.00
Bozzelli had a big holeshot and was way ahead until just past half track, then
his engine began trailing smoke and his car slowed. Meanwhile, Reichert made a
career-best and stormed by on the top end for the win. Margin of victory = 0.110
seconds (approximately 37 feet). Reichert gets to race Santos next round, Santos
with lane choice.
Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
9 Steve Cantrell 5.578 249.35 Q 1 Arthur Gallant 5.338 253.95
(R McPhillips) 0.502 5.539 250.69 E1 (K Winward ) 0.578 5.422 264.44
*****WINNER***** 0.495 5.570 252.05 E2 0.551 5.534 247.79
Cantrell stole this one at the starting line, leaving first and then holding
Gallant off on the top end. Gallant was narrowing the gap and might have run him
down, but his engine started losing power on the top end. Margin of victory =
0.020 seconds (approximately 7 feet). Cantrell faces Hentges next round, Hentges
with lane choice.
