PONOMA, Calif. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Modified at the Mazda NHRA Import World Finals Presented by Toyo Tires:

Gonzalez lost in round one too - but the driver in the other lane was not wearing his required safety equipment. As a result Gonzalez was reinstated, keeping his championship hopes alive. He has to win more rounds than Craig Paisley. But he won't. Both cars do big wheelstands and it was close till half track, then Gonzalez missed a gear shift.

Papadakis's screaming yellow Honda was all over the track - the 1500 foot side-to-side-to-side run was incredible to watch and good enough to get past..... Word comes from the top end that Stephan passed the scales and will be disqualified!! Paisley will be reinstated, and with Gonzalez's loss, that should be enough to wrap up the championship. It's been a weird day in Modified to be sure, but our final pair will be Lochhead and Paisley.
