JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the Inaugural NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:


Left Lane: Kevin Lawrence Runs 8.795/108.67, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.025/195.65, Was #31
Right Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 6.930/198.29, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.236/194.83, Was #34

Shelton dips into the sixes for the first time in his career.

Left Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.871/200.56, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.937/199.08, Was #29
Right Lane: Larry Peternel Runs 7.043/194.86, Now #33; Best prior run: 7.141/192.88, Was #34

Nickens with his career best et and mph pass, but not enough. Peternel with his career best et and mph pass.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 10.392/82.12, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.933/198.15, Was #29
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 7.084/193.29, Now #34; Best prior run: 7.093/193.05, Was #34

Spiess with his best pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Larry Nance Runs 6.914/198.06, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.907/198.79, Was #25
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 9.946/91.60, Now #28; Best prior run: 6.932/199.08, Was #28

Smith was out of the groove early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.866/200.23, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.898/200.02, Was #23

Johnson with his season best pass and he is still going home.

Gillig goes in the wrong direction.

Jeg with 1.003 60-foot time, but will not make the show for the second race out of the last three. Blakeney with his career best et pass to make the show.

Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.841/200.77, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.863/200.74, Was #19

Krisher with his quickest pass of the season to get in the show.

Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 6.844/201.49, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.860/201.10, Was #18
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.875/199.55, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.857/200.47, Was #17

Hammonds with his career et and mph pass to get into the quickest Pro Stock field ever.

Martino with the big jump here into the top half of the field.

No help for either of these two.

Warren with his career et pass here to jump into the number three spot.

Allen with a 0.997 second 60-foot time, but then had problems.

Osborne with another career best et to jump into the number two spot.

Kurt with a 0.997 second 60-foot time, but can not break into the 6.70 zone. He holds on to the number one spot and will face number 16 Tom Hammonds.
