MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the NHRA Division 5 Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series Event listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Larry Traugott Runs 6.382/234.37, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.924/241.41, Was #8
Right Lane: Edwin Schmeekle Runs 5.934/236.05, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.976/235.72, Was #9

6:22 PM It's Schmeekle's last shot to make the field. He missed it by a tenth of a second. Traugott shook hard on the hit, the car moving toward the retaining wall at 330 feet.

Left Lane: Billy Bybee Runs 5.747/248.66, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.767/248.84, Was #4
Right Lane: Bruce Bowler Runs 5.924/216.55, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.080/224.43, Was #10

Bowler dropped a cylinder at half track and by the time he picked it back up, it was too late. He had the identical ET as Larry Traugott, but is out due to the slower MPH.

Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.743/250.23, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.747/249.67, Was #3
Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 5.702/250.88, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.768/248.39, Was #5

The rest of the cars left in FMD qualifying are racing for position on the eliminations ladder. Strasburg moves into the top half of the field for now.

Right Lane: David Wells Runs 5.670/251.44, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.680/252.28, Was #1

Wells takes it right down the center of the lane, a pretty pass in every way.

Right Lane: Shelly Howard Runs 5.691/249.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.687/250.37, Was #2

No problems on this run for Howard. If she wins this event, she will clinch the Division 4 championship.
