MEMPHIS - Pro Stock Truck Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Truck at the 14th annual AutoZone NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:


Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 7.682/177.16, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.637/177.14, Was #23

2:04 PM This is McGaha's last chance to make the field. He makes a good pass, right down the groove, but doesn't have the horsepower to get in.

Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 7.523/178.90, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.546/178.78, Was #19

Haas makes a good pass and gets in on the bump for now.

Left Lane: Dale Eaton Runs 7.566/179.23, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.533/180.00, Was #19
Right Lane: Samuel Tompkins Runs 7.676/175.91, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.704/174.93, Was #25

Tompkins makes his best run of the weekend but still can't get close to making the show. Eaton improves on his earlier run today but doesn't get in.

Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 7.539/179.14, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.525/179.73, Was #17
Right Lane: Larry Seay Runs 7.631/176.74, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.610/176.79, Was #22

Whisnant was just bumped out and will be looking to get back in...but he can't do it.

Left Lane: Don Smith Runs 7.552/178.57, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.515/179.85, Was #15
Right Lane: Rick Brown Runs 7.625/176.86, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.599/176.84, Was #21



Left Lane: Lou Ficco Runs 7.559/178.57, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.508/179.33, Was #14
Right Lane: Craig Eaton Runs 18.438/43.52, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.594/177.93, Was #20

Eaton spins the tires right off the line and has to shut down. Ficco slows from his earlier run but is already in the field.

Left Lane: Jeff Naiser Runs 7.517/178.57, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.499/178.42, Was #13
Right Lane: Scott Perin Runs 7.613/178.40, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.527/179.37, Was #18

Naiser makes a good run for the conditions, the best of the round so far. Perin slows and doesn't make the show.

Left Lane: Scott Tidwell Runs 7.507/178.87, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.491/179.37, Was #12
Right Lane: Jeff Gracia Runs 7.561/180.02, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.484/180.38, Was #10



Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 7.475/180.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.487/180.31, Was #11
Right Lane: Victor Cagnazzi Runs 7.547/180.21, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.483/180.31, Was #9

A great run for Stanfield, his quickest of the weekend, and he moves into the top half of the field. Cagnazzi doesn't improve and drops a spot to tenth.

Left Lane: John Coughlin Runs 7.491/179.90, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.480/179.83, Was #9
Right Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 12.897/65.01, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.476/180.07, Was #8

Daniels shakes the tires right off the line and has to abort the run.

Left Lane: Todd Patterson Runs 10.636/85.74, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.473/179.83, Was #4
Right Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 7.509/180.26, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.476/180.12, Was #7

Patterson has problems at about half-track and has to shut down.

Left Lane: Bob Panella Jr Runs 7.454/181.15, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.466/181.15, Was #2
Right Lane: Bart Price Runs 7.538/180.50, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.475/180.16, Was #5

Panella makes the best run of the session and stays in the second spot. Price shakes the tires but drives through it for a decent pass.

Right Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 8.878/111.33, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.467/180.04, Was #3

Lastor gets out of the groove early and heads for the wall. He gets to about halftrack and decides to give up on the run. That ends the final round of qualifying for the trucks, Coughlin is on the pole and will be facing Haas in round one tomorrow.
