MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the NHRA Division 5 Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series Event listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 5.778/250.09, Now #1
Right Lane: Brent DuCray Runs 5.875/239.61, Now #2

4:23 PM Strasburg was out of the groove early, the car getting close to the centerline in the middle section of the track.

Left Lane: Bruce Bowler Runs 6.229/219.29, Now #4
Right Lane: Billy Bybee Runs 5.767/248.84, Now #1

Bowler's engine was laboring all the way down the track, the car definitely not running right.

Left Lane: Edwin Schmeekle Runs 6.003/231.87, Now #5
Right Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.821/246.26, Now #3

Schmeekle shook the tires for the first 60 feet. No problems for Bradshaw here.

Left Lane: David Wells Runs 5.680/252.28, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Traugott Runs 5.979/236.96, Now #6

Both cars went straight down Broadway, Wells running the second quickest and second fastest FMD pass ever run at Bandimere Speedway.

Left Lane: Shelly Howard Runs 5.687/250.37, Now #2
Right Lane: Kent Nuckols Runs 6.918/140.34, Now #10

Nuckols had severe tire shake on the launch and was unable to get the car hooked up.
