MEDFORD, Ore. - Southern Oregon Dragway will host the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series Sept. 21-22, 2001. The event is the last of six in NHRA’s Northwest Division and will feature more than 350 cars racing in eight categories, including 250 mph Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Federal-Mogul Funny Cars. Racers will be competing for points leading to national and divisional championships and for cash and contingency awards of $138,935, a part of the $6.5 million, 43-race series. Gates at Southern Oregon Dragway open at 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Qualifying and time trials begin at 8 a.m. Friday with FM Dragsters and FM Funny Cars scheduled to run at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, qualifying continues from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eliminations begin at 2 p.m. and FM Dragsters and FM Funny Cars are scheduled to run their first round of eliminations at 5 p.m. Tickets, including pit pass, are $15 Friday and $17 Saturday.
