Stevenson added to NHRA Communications Staff

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Gabrielle Stevenson has been hired as a media relations manager for the National Hot Rod Association, NHRA Director of Media Relations Anthony Vestal announced.

Stevenson, 26, joins the NHRA following a career in which she has held sports writing positions for a variety of Bay Area newspapers. During the last year she worked as motorsports writer for the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, Calif. She also has penned sports stories for the Vallejo Times-Herald, Auburn Journal and Daily Republic in Fairfield, Calif.

In her new position, Stevenson will provide national event media relations for the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series, as well as for other NHRA racing programs and series. In addition, she will write press releases, help with research and statistical projects, maintain relationships with national media outlets and contribute to the NHRA media guide and other NHRA Communications Dept. publications.

"We're pleased to have someone with Gabrielle's abilities join our communications team," said Vestal. "She has a strong passion for the sport and an intense work ethic that will be crucial in helping to implement the aggressive programs and initiatives we have developed to promote and publicize the sport of NHRA drag racing."

Stevenson received a bachelor of arts degree in government and journalism from California State University, Sacramento in 1999. Stevenson recently relocated to the Inland Empire from Concord, Calif.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the NHRA," Stevenson said. "I look forward to working with some great people, gaining experience in the public relations field and contributing to the success of the organization during this very exciting time for the sport of drag racing."

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 24 national events through its Winston Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has more than 80,000 members nationwide and more than 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, the NHRA Summit Import Drag Racing Series and the Street Legal Program. The NHRA also offers the Castrol GTX Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
