EARLVILLE, Iowa - Results of round 1 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the Winnebago Division Five Event Five:

   8 Robert Kanenwisher  6.166 236.22  Q    1 Chuck Cheeseman     5.826 250.48

Both cars launch into big time tire shake and that was when Kanenwisher gave up on the run and Cheeseman pedaled it to take the win.

Butler got out of the groove and was real close to the wall and when he whipped it back into the lane he was up on two wheels. He did a great job driving. Chesterman used up all his lane, first close to the centerline and then back toward the wall. He stayed with it for the win.

Branch was out of the gate first and into violent tire shake before he clicked it off. Moats had tire shake right off the starting line and pedaled it at two times to take the win light.

Williams was out of the gate first and was on a great pass until just past half track and then he got out of the groove close to the centerline. Fleming was late on the line and could not chase him down. Williams will have lane choice over Cheeseman and Moats will get his pick against Chesterman.
