EARLVILLE, Iowa --
The first rounds of qualifying at the NHRA
Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event presented by Winnebago at Tri-State
Raceway were delayed for three-and-a-half hours by rain. However, when the
track was dry qualifying and time trials proceeded unabated until just
before the Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car qualifying sessions. That's
when heavy rains put an end to the day's activities.
Peru, Ind., resident Brian Olson currently holds the No. 1
qualifying position in Comp Eliminator while Randall Klein of Lincoln, Neb.,
holds the pole in Super Stock. Jerry Stealy of Moline, Ill., is in the top
spot in Stock.
Qualifying continues Saturday at 8 a.m. Gates at Tri-State Raceway
open at 7 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car run at
1 p.m. and 4 p.m. For more information call the track, (319) 923-3724.
