5:30 PM The 47th US Nationals have come down to just one more run down this historic event. Larry Dixon won here in 1995 during his rookie season, but his crew chief has never won the biggest race, not as a driver or a crew chief. Mike Dunn won in 1986 in Funny Car here, so both drivers know what a win at Indy tastes like. Larry's Miller car arched in the middle with all the torque being applied to the surface, then thundered all the way into the history books. The win will be extra special for the team, Dick LaHaie finally wins the biggest drag race of them all. Dick commented on the PA system about the run - "I'm pretty much at a loss for words. When the guys change all those parts and it puts those numbers up over and over it's pretty special." So the 2001 US Nationals sponsored by MAC Tools is over, but special memories will last for many months to come. Good Night!
