INDY - Pro Stock Round 2 Eliminations
By Michael L. Jex

CLERMONT, Ind. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Pro Stock at the 47th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals:

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   6 Bruce Allen 6.891 198.90 Q 3 Warren Johnson 6.885 200.50
   (G Marnell ) 0.500 6.951 198.26 E1 (V Gaines ) 0.529 6.978 196.04
 *****WINNER***** 0.475 6.982 197.94 E2 0.499 6.991 198.20
1:27 PM Allen won this race last year - he just made a big step towards repeating by taking out the Professor. In round one WJ broke a valve spring. He replaced it between rounds, but apparently the engine was not quite "up to snuff". The top speed is quite slow for a WJ powerplant, even with the current weather conditions.

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   2 Greg Anderson 6.880 199.91 Q 10 Mike Edwards 6.903 199.46
   (H Blakeney ) 0.508 6.948 198.35 E1 (T Hammonds ) 0.476 6.952 198.20
 *****WINNER***** 0.484 6.953 198.76 E2 0.426 7.018 197.86
Edwards got the light he wanted, but drifted around in the middle of the track. That opened the door for Anderson, who took the stripe by seven thousandths of a second. Margin of victory = 0.007 seconds (approximately 2 feet). Anderson will race Bruce Allen in the semis.

   4 Ron Krisher 6.889 199.97 Q 5 Jim Yates 6.889 199.82

Krisher broke right off the starting line. Nice pass for Yates.

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   1 Mark Osborne 6.879 200.68 Q 8 Brad Jeter 6.899 199.32
   (D Alderman ) 0.469 6.937 199.55 E1 (M Pawuk ) 0.424 6.959 197.80
 *****WINNER***** 0.476 6.978 199.11 E2 0.457 7.245 160.48
Jeter spun the tires at the start, recording just a 1.076 60-foot time. Jeter may have lifted at the top end when he realized he was not going to catch Osborne's Neon. In the Semi finals Osborne will race Jim Yates. On the other side of the ladder Greg Anderson and Bruce Allen was square off. 1:34 PM
