5:17 PM This is Veney's first NHRA National Event. He gets a big holeshot on Cheeseman but gets out of the groove early. He does a great job of driving to get the car back in the middle of the lane. Cheeseman is late off the line but makes up the difference by the time they get to the 1000' mark. Margin of victory = 0.140 seconds (approximately 49 feet).
