2:36 PM Two of the quickest cars in the country faced off here and the race came down to severe tire shake for Austin against what appeared to be a broken blower belt for Bartone. Austin went into severe shake on the launch and shut it down, only to see Bartone nose over and start coasting on the top end.

Payne's car was late firing and he did a short burnout in order not to cause a delay for Miner. Turns out Payne was broken, just sitting at the starting line when the green came on. Miner almost gave it back, getting very close to the wall. If he'd touched the wall, Payne would have been the winner. But Miner stayed legal and will have lane choice against Bartone in the finals.
