By Larry Sullivan

ENNIS, Texas - Results of round 2 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 15th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec:

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   8 Mark Hentges 5.550 256.55 Q Bye
   (D Foley ) 0.491 5.625 238.26 E1
 *****WINNER***** 0.464 5.592 249.95 E2
2:31 PM Hentges gets the bye run this round. If he'd been racing somebody, he would have been disqualified, the car shaking and getting out of the groove, taking out the 1,000-foot marker.

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   4 David Wells 5.496 258.52 Q 12 Steve Faria 5.596 252.10

Faria got a slight holeshot, but Wells reeled him in and then edged ahead to win by a margin of victory = 0.068 seconds (approximately 25 feet). Wells will have lane choice over Hentges in the semifinals.

Both cars shook hard on the launch. Fuentes' car went silent immediately, something breaking in the drive train. Meyer drove through it, but the car started dancing around on the top end and Meyer shut it down very early.

   7 Troy Buff 5.547 254.47 Q 17 Gene Snow 5.781 218.97

Snow pulled the trigger a thousandth early and Buff was there for the taking, his car shedding the blower belt on the top end. Despite the problems, Buff has lane choice against Jay Meyer in the semifinals.
