pioneer Ed Dykes Saturday afternoon. The presentation was made by Dykes' longtime
colleague Dave Densmore. A framed photograph and signs identifying the 'Ed Dykes
Media Center' were unveiled.
Dykes was the founder of the FastNews Network, which provided the first online
coverage of NHRA Winston Drag Racing in the early 1980s. Dykes, who was presented
the NHRA media award in 1996 and was recognized by Car Craft Magazine for his
achievements in 1995, was killed in January when his plane crashed in the mountains
of Northeast Tennessee during a solo flight.
