TOPEKA - Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 12th annual Advance Auto Parts Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:


Left Lane: Larry Peternel Runs 12.593/66.44, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.248/188.41, Was #32

Peternel is out of the groove early and shuts it off.

Left Lane: Ed Heck Runs 13.416/63.38, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.150/193.65, Was #31
Right Lane: Carl Beal Runs 7.134/194.46, Now #31; Best prior run: 8.228/118.30, Was #33

Heck just like Peternel was out of the groove early and clicked it off. Beal with his best pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 7.255/184.52, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.124/193.88, Was #29
Right Lane: Gary Wiggins Runs 14.854/54.68, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.132/193.02, Was #30

Wiggins had problems right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 7.138/192.36, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.095/193.96, Was #28
Right Lane: John Fairleigh Runs 7.054/195.14, Now #27; Best prior run: 7.045/194.97, Was #27

No help for either of these two.

Left Lane: John Nobile Runs 7.028/194.69, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.043/194.80, Was #26
Right Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 7.104/194.16, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.014/195.56, Was #23

Not seeing any big jumps, we have a strong head wind that these guys are trying to drive through.

Left Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 7.037/195.19, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.035/195.79, Was #26
Right Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 7.106/195.15, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.009/195.96, Was #22

Still no help here

Left Lane: Roger Jenkins Runs 9.235/104.86, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.020/194.72, Was #24
Right Lane: Brad Klein Runs 7.018/196.53, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.009/196.50, Was #21



Left Lane: Tom Martino Runs 6.999/196.10, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.002/196.27, Was #19
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 11.025/80.20, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.007/196.07, Was #20

The bump is still Morgan with a 6.987. A couple more that will not be back tomorrow.

Left Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.063/192.58, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.999/195.05, Was #18
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 7.045/194.74, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.000/196.19, Was #19

These are the last two that can bump out Morgan. They did not do it.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.986/196.16, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.984/196.02, Was #15
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.034/196.04, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.987/196.96, Was #16

We now have the 16 that will come tomorrow to play, so all we can do is see who will run who from here on. Like all the other Pro Stockers before them no help.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.993/196.27, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.981/196.76, Was #14
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 7.031/195.93, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.975/196.16, Was #11



Left Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 6.987/196.24, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.978/196.76, Was #13
Right Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 7.007/196.04, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.972/196.53, Was #9



Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.986/196.04, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.976/196.27, Was #12
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 9.604/94.19, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.962/196.56, Was #7

Pawuk got out of the groove early and close to the wall. He clicked it off.

Still no changes in the top sixteen.

Allen was loose right off the starting line and made a move toward the wall.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.939/197.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.926/197.94, Was #2
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.978/198.00, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.951/197.16, Was #4



Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.963/196.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.922/197.39, Was #1
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 7.004/197.36, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.950/197.33, Was #3

Pretty uneventful session, nobody that was not qualified got in and none of the qualified cars improved.
