3:53 PM We open the semifinals with a pair of red, white, and black cars. Herbert got the advantage at the green, but Scelzi quickly ate into that lead and then went by for an easy win when Herbert started to smoke the tires at half track.

This race is almost in Amato's back yard, so he dearly wants to do good before his friends and neighbors. He will get his chance in the finals, winning this very good race on the top half of the run, Vandergriff ahead early and then falling back from half track on, the margin of victory = 0.054 seconds (approximately 24 feet). Scelzi will have lane choice against Amato when they meet a little over an hour-and-a-half from now.
