Left Lane: Dean Skuza Runs 4.973/293.86, Now #2; No Prior Run Right Lane: Scott Weis Runs 5.067/291.38, Now #10; Best prior run: 13.786/77.80, Was #19 8:59 PM Skuza had problems in the first round and was not able to make a pass. He makes a big move on this run jumping all the way into the number two spot. Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 14.631/80.56, Now #20; Best prior run: 9.441/100.41, Was #20 Right Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 12.270/77.92, Now #19; Best prior run: 8.190/97.91, Was #19 Both cars come off the line, break the tires loose and abort the runs. Left Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 5.119/261.72, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.446/192.22, Was #16 Right Lane: Gary Densham Runs 9.638/82.94, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.164/286.25, Was #12 Gilbertson improves and gets off the bump. Densham comes off the line and goes up in smoke about 100 feet out. Powell is on the bump at 5.437. Left Lane: Cristen Powell Runs 4.977/296.57, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.437/194.49, Was #16 Right Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 10.543/77.20, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.109/278.86, Was #11 Powell gets off the bump and jumps way up to the fourth spot. She gets very close to the centerline near the end of the track but is able to keep it in her lane. Cannon blows the tires off right off the line. Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 16.661/69.56, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.167/245.49, Was #15 Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 5.159/284.33, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.032/278.35, Was #8 Johnson boils the Goodyear's as soon as he hits the throttle and aborts the run. Pedregon makes a decent pass but slows from his earlier run. Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 5.726/158.82, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.065/269.89, Was #10 Right Lane: Jerry Toliver Runs 15.969/63.30, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.976/289.57, Was #3 Toliver loses traction right off the line. Capps has a good run going but flames go out about 1000 feet out. Left Lane: Bruce Sarver Runs 8.628/89.74, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.063/263.10, Was #9 Right Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 13.922/66.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.934/303.23, Was #1 Both of these guys go up in smoke, Pedregon right out of the hole and Sarver following soon after. the track is very cool and may not be able to hold these cars. Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.865/312.50, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.003/281.60, Was #7 Force proves there is nothing wrong with the track. He makes a great run and jumps into the pole position. He sets both ends of the track record on this pass. Left Lane: Del Worsham No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.000/304.19, Was #7 Worsham with another single run. He runs into problems and shuts the engine down before making a pass. Left Lane: Jim Epler Runs 5.091/237.05, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.990/259.06, Was #6 Epler is the last Funny car this session. He starts off on a good run but starts pouring smoke out about 1000 feet out. We end this session with Force on the pole and Hoffman on the bump with a 5.323.
