INDY - Pro Stock Round 2 Eliminations
By Larry Sullivan

CLERMONT, Ind. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Pro Stock at the 46th annual U.S. Nationals:

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
  16 Jeg Coughlin 7.020 195.59 Q 8 Allen Johnson 7.003 194.72
   (M Osborne ) 0.433 7.017 195.14 E1 (D Alderman ) 0.442 7.022 194.86
 *****WINNER***** 0.469 6.950 196.27 E2 0.446 6.992 195.34
2:09 PM Both these drivers are known as "good leavers," so a staging battle wouldn't have been unexpected. But they played no games, Jeg in quickly and Johnson right behind. AJ got the holeshot, but Jeg used his Maskin power to run him down from behind, winning by a Margin of victory = 0.019 seconds (approximately 5 feet).

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   7 Richie Stevens 6.998 195.34 Q 2 Ron Krisher 6.982 196.76
   (T Martino ) 0.455 6.960 195.65 E1 (J Yates ) 0.433 6.978 196.16
                  0.459 6.953 196.13 E2 *****WINNER***** 0.474 6.929 196.76
Another pair of good leavers, but the difference here was all under the hood of Krisher's Firebird, running Stevens down to win by a Margin of victory = 0.009 seconds (approximately 3 feet). Two pairs, two very good drag races!

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   3 Kurt Johnson 6.986 197.39 Q 6 Troy Coughlin 6.996 196.64
   (B Jeter ) 0.466 6.953 196.90 E1 (R Smith ) 0.477 6.964 196.36
 *****WINNER***** 0.470 6.925 197.57 E2 0.488 6.961 196.22
The overcast is starting to thin out a bit, but it's still 100 percent. Another good drag race, the margin of victory = 0.054 seconds (approximately 16 feet) and KJ with lane choice against Krisher by 0.004 seconds.

 Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
   5 Mark Pawuk 6.986 195.96 Q 13 George Marnell 7.015 195.25
   (B Allen ) 0.525 6.932 195.82 E1 (W Johnson ) 0.973 7.013 195.14
 *****WINNER***** 0.506 6.946 196.42 E2 0.280 11.041 79.74
Based on round one, Marnell needed a huge holeshot to have a chance against "Cowboy." He got it, but he did it by going way into the red zone. Pawuk has lane choice against Jeg, also by 0.004 seconds.
