CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 46th annual U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:


Left Lane: Bill Shorts No Time, Now #2
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 7.097/193.96, Now #1

7:00 PM Short broke on the burnout and was pushed away. Good opening run by Koretsky.

Left Lane: Don Beverley Runs 7.142/192.82, Now #3
Right Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.060/195.17, Now #1



Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 7.066/194.94, Now #2
Right Lane: Joel Bayless Runs 7.313/189.20, Now #5



Left Lane: Roger Jenkins Runs 7.090/194.32, Now #3
Right Lane: Gary Wiggins Runs 7.270/189.31, Now #6

Jenkins posted a 1.056 60-foot time...

Left Lane: Terry Smith Runs 7.174/191.76, Now #6
Right Lane: Ray Franks Runs 7.800/191.92, Now #9

Franks' car made a hard move to the right on the launch and he almost stopped before continuing.

Left Lane: Ed Heck No Time, Now #12
Right Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 7.116/194.11, Now #5

Hurley made a long, smoky burnout - in the mode of Dean Skuza! Heck broke on the burnout. Clean pass for Blakeney.

Left Lane: Terry Adams Runs 7.124/181.81, Now #6

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 7.009/197.16, Now #2

Jeter broke on the burnout.

Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.986/195.96, Now #2

Krisher and "Cowboy" jump right in between the Johnson family in the order. Pawuk's testing here last week appears to have paid off, matching KJ's ET, but not his speed.

The bump before these two ran was John Nobile's 7.077. After they ran it was Robert Patrick's 7.066, Allen Johnson also bumped.

Gaines' car got a bit loose 400 feet out and he shut it down.

Left Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 7.066/194.80, Now #17

Final car. Geoffrion just misses the overnight bump - but there are four more qualifying sessions to go.
