CORDOVA - Sunoco Race Fuels Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CORDOVA, Ill. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Sunoco Race Fuels Pro Stock at the 21st annual Amalie Motor Oil Summer Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Floyd Cheek Runs 6.744/206.54, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.788/205.85, Was #10
Right Lane: David Jenkins Runs 6.831/206.32, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.887/203.58, Was #16

A big time staging battle here in qualifying they both turned on the pre-stage lights and then sat there. And sat there, and sat there for around a minute. Cheek finally pulled in. They both moved up in the program.

Left Lane: Mike Delangro Runs 7.291/190.00, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.199/193.38, Was #21
Right Lane: Robert Killian Runs 6.797/205.47, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.813/205.72, Was #13

Killian made a move in the right direction, but not enough to move him up in the show. Delangro will not make the show.

Left Lane: Jerry Yeoman Runs 6.681/207.85, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.681/207.46, Was #2
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 9.587/103.54, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.763/206.51, Was #10

Wilson made a quick move toward the centerline and had to lift. Yeoman almost repeated his time from earlier today.

Left Lane: Ed Machacek Runs 6.879/201.85, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.887/202.15, Was #17
Right Lane: Carl Baker Runs 6.783/206.57, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.796/206.20, Was #12

Machacek got in the show and bumped out Pepper on this pass.

Left Lane: Tim Nabors Runs 6.734/205.66, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.866/204.08, Was #15
Right Lane: Mark Hay Runs 6.740/206.16, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.789/204.82, Was #12

Nabors launched hard and made the big jump into the top half of the field. Hay moved in the right direction.

Left Lane: Chuck Demory Runs 6.807/203.58, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.901/200.35, Was #19
Right Lane: Wally Stroupe Runs 6.828/204.32, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.889/203.12, Was #18

Ford vs Chevy and the Ford wins this one and they both get in the show. That bumped out Jenkins and Machacek.

Left Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 6.684/206.99, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.724/206.39, Was #7
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.725/207.78, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.698/207.59, Was #5

Left Lane: Tom Lee Runs 6.667/208.46, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.670/209.10, Was #1
Right Lane: Rocky Watford Runs 6.934/205.04, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.551/139.41, Was #22

Lee continues to dominant here.

Left Lane: Jason Collins Runs 6.764/206.76, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.737/206.95, Was #9
Right Lane: Chris Holbrook Runs 6.831/204.08, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.926/200.68, Was #20

Holbrook with his best pass with this car, but it will not be good enough. No help for Collins.

Left Lane: Charlie Peppers Runs 6.786/204.39, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.885/203.03, Was #20
Right Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 6.700/208.26, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.688/208.10, Was #4

Peppers got back into the show with that pass.

Left Lane: Ron Miller Runs 6.767/205.47, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.689/207.78, Was #5
Right Lane: Jon Yoak Runs 6.697/209.01, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.718/208.68, Was #7

Ford vs Chevy to wrap up Pro Stock qualifying tonight. Ford won this one and stayed in front of Yoak on the ladder.
