GRAND BEND, Ont. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the Inaugural Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol:
Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
5 Jim Bailey 4.905 290.51 Q 4 Clay Millican 4.793 298.21
0.515 4.890 294.69 E1 *****WINNER***** 0.534 4.768 306.95
1:11 PM There was a heated debate in the staging lanes before the first pair
pulled out as the Top Fuel teams and officials discussed the decision to let Doug
Foxworth's run Saturday night stand as a qualifying run. It will certainly be
debated again after the race is over. For now, let's go racing.
As was the case in Rockingham, Millican shows he's a force to be reckoned with,
making his best run of the weekend and his best speed of the season to get the win
light against Bailey. Margin of victory = 0.103 seconds (approximately 45
feet).

6 Bruce Litton 4.977 273.47 Q 3 Shirley Muldowney 4.785 309.38
0.530 5.033 274.97 E1 *****WINNER***** 0.506 4.848 310.13
If the revised ladder had been used, Shirley would have been racing Millican,
so the decision actually went in her favor when Litton started smoking the tires
at half track, letting Shirley pull away to an easy win. As a bonus to getting
her first round win of the season, she also established a new World speed record
at 310.13, her 309.38 during qualifying serving as a backup.

2 Doug Foxworth 4.781 307.48 Q 7 Jim Head 5.027 294.69
0.000 No Time E1 *****WINNER***** 0.538 4.903 289.20
Foxworth was unable to answer the call because of his accident and first
alternate Roger Dean also could not run, so Head got a bye run. He made a strong
launch and a solid run to about 1,000 feet, then slowed. Shirley will have lane
choice when they meet in the semifinals.

8 Louie Allison 5.258 229.18 Q 1 Paul Romine 4.769 307.58
0.499 5.201 236.03 E1 *****WINNER***** 0.515 4.863 303.43
Romine won this one easily and Allison's slowing car drifted right on the top
end, taking out the finish line reflector blocks. Romine advances, but Millican
will have lane choice when they meet in the semifinals.IHRA: 10 Most Recent Entries [ top ] Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Summary of Eliminations in Top Fuel Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Pro Mod Final Ladder Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Top Fuel Final Ladder Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Funny Car Final Ladder Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Summary of Eliminations in Funny Car Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Summary of Eliminations in Pro Mod Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Summary of Eliminations in Top Fuel Motorcycle Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Nitro Harley Final Ladder Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Summary of Eliminations in Nitro Harley Jun 21- TRIPLE CROWN 1 - Fuel Altered Final Ladder |
