GRAND BEND - Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Qualifying Notes, Final Session

GRAND BEND, Ont. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the Inaugural Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jay Turner Runs 6.508/0.00, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.522/215.67, Was #2
Right Lane: Jack Romine Runs 7.710/157.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.007/200.93, Was #9

8:50 PM Turner with a good, clean pass, Romine smokes 'em up right out of the gate.

Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 6.492/215.46, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.540/206.09, Was #3
Right Lane: Allen Peterson Runs 6.840/193.63, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.864/180.32, Was #8

New World speed record for Vancil at 215.46, previous pass at 219.03 serves as a backup. The 215 pass is not fast enough to back up the 219 run.

Left Lane: Johnny Mancuso Runs 7.433/142.69, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.565/212.26, Was #5
Right Lane: Ray Price Runs 6.790/177.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.834/199.42, Was #7

Mancuso labors down the track, Price hanging on to the number seven spot.

Left Lane: Bill Furr No Time, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.550/202.11, Was #4
Right Lane: Jim McClure Runs 7.760/133.47, Now #11; Best prior run: 29.769/18.28, Was #11

McClure spins the tire right off the line, and the motor labored all the way down track. He won't make the show. Furr is shut off in the water box.

Left Lane: Mike Romine Runs 7.625/164.29, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.136/165.89, Was #10

Romine had to get off the throttle at least twice during the run.
