AKRON, Ohio --
High performance mail order parts leader Summit Racing
Equipment is proud to announce their major sponsorship agreement with IHRA
Super Rod world champion Mark Horton.
Horton, who also finished 4th in Quick Rod in '99, joins Pro Modified
standouts Jim Oddy and Fred Hahn on Summit's IHRA team, Mark Pawuk, John
Lingenfelter and Dan Fletcher in NHRA and Nitro Coupe driver Bill Kuhlmann.
Horton will campaign his world championship '99 corvette in the Super Rod
division and debut a brand new dragster, also flying the Summit colors, in
Quick Rod for 2000.
"We're very proud to have Mark's two car operation on our team," said
Summit Racing's motorsports manager Skooter Peaco. "Mark has a first class
operation and is fully dedicated to having a winning program. His past
track record certainly speaks for itself. Not many competitors have the
kind of success Mark has had in one car, let alone being successful in two,
ultra-competitive IHRA classes. Most importantly, Mark is one of the
nicest guys you'll meet at the track. He is the type of guy that would
help anyone that needed it, even the guy he had to race next round. His
personality has made him one of the most popular drivers among his peers
and that will help give Summit Racing have a direct, and more personal link
to its racing customers at every IHRA event next season."
