PUTNAM, Conn. -- Officials at Chuck Etchells Racing and Mighty Auto Parts today announced a two-year extension of their sponsorship agreement. As such, Mighty, who has been with the Etchells organization since 1996, will remain as an associate sponsor of the Kendall Oil/Matco Tools Camaro Z28 Funny Car through the 2001 season.

"I know I speak for everyone at Etchells Racing in saying how happy we are to have Mighty Auto Parts remain on board for another two years," stated team owner Chuck Etchells. "Having the continued support of a company of the stature of Mighty Auto Parts validates this team's efforts both on and off the track. I would also like to thank Ken Voelker, Gary Vann and Frank Turner, without whom this would not be possible."

Mighty Auto Parts, a division of Mighty Distributing Systems of America, Inc. with corporate headquarters in Norcross, Georgia will celebrate its 37th year in business in the year 2000. Through its nationwide network of franchisees, Mighty is able to service over 25,000 professional automotive repair facilities, and pride themselves on providing the highest quality products and unparalleled customer support. The Mighty Racing program, whose motto is "Strong behind the Wheel, Mighty under the Hood" works with its manufacturers and racing teams to develop and improve their products. For example, the 6000 horsepower, 300 mph Etchells "fuel coupe" will once again be powered by Mighty's Power Core( spark plugs, and serviced using many of Mighty's chemical products.
