GLENDORA, Calif. -- David Doyel has been named director of performance aftermarket marketing for the National Hot Rod Association, NHRA Vice President of Marketing Gary Darcy announced.

In his new position Doyel will oversee customer marketing efforts directed at the performance aftermarket industry and its manufacturers. He will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the NHRA Contingency Marketing Program, as well as establishing a Contingency Advisory Group. In addition, Doyel will serve as a key liaison with industry trade groups, including Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and Performance Racing Industry (PRI). He will also serve as a liaison with the NHRA technical and competition departments on issues related to contingency sponsorship and the performance aftermarket industry.

Doyel is the latest addition to the NHRA Marketing Department, which in recent months has added new staff members in several key areas, including brand marketing, licensing and sponsor marketing.

"By establishing a director of performance aftermarket marketing, NHRA drag racing is demonstrating its commitment to this important customer group," Darcy said. "David brings solid experience, good customer knowledge and a passion for the performance aftermarket industry to this position. In keeping with our three-year plan, this move further establishes our desire to put sponsorship relations on the top of our list as one of our most important initiatives."

"I am ready for the challenge of this new position," Doyel said. "The performance aftermarket industry is an important part of the NHRA's past, present and future. I am looking forward to working with the many sponsors in this industry who support the NHRA. My goal is to help our sponsors maximize their return on investment from their sponsorship commitments through the achievement of bottom-line results."

Doyel, a native of Arcadia, Calif., received a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a major in operations management from the California State Polytechnic University at Pomona.
