5:45 PM These two are the only two with runs of 4.500 seconds or quicker, Dixon with one run and Scelzi now with two. Dixon carried the front wheels for 100 feet, the rear wheels tripping the sixty-foot markers, and Scelzi made up most of Dixon's st arting line advantage by 330 feet, then it was a pretty even race to half track. However, when Scelzi started hazing the tires at half track, Dixon pulled away to win by a margin of victory = 0.143 seconds (approximately 61 feet).

With this loss, Scelzi trails Schumacher by 109 points, so all Schumacher needs to do to clinch the title is show up at Pomona and qualify in the field.
