Yates gets the headstart but it wasn't all he needed, and that wraps up WJ's '99 Winston Championship. WJ was 0.009 quicker to the 60' mark, 0.16 quicker at 330', and 0.025 at half track, and 0.040 at 1000', so Yates was still ahead even at that point on the track. But WJ pulled ahead and took the win by 0.010 seconds, about three feet, and in the process notched his seventh win of 1999 and his 79th of his career. Congrats to Johnson, Stryker, and the entire GM Performance Parts team!
