6:12 PM Here we go with the 1999 Winston champion against the soon-to-be-unemployed kid from Iowa. It was everything we expected, the quickest side-by-side race ever in Funny Car, the margin of victory = 0.030 seconds (approximately 14 feet). Both cars made perfect runs, glued to the dragstrip and right down the middle of the groove, smooth and straight with all eight candles lit all the way through the lights.

Congratulations to Force and Coil and the crew for their win, and congratulations to the Interstate Batteries Pontiac crew for their ability to attend to the job at hand after being told that their car would be parked at the end of the season because of a lack of sponsorship. Go figger...how can a team that's running that well be broken up? Could the Gibbs team be parking the wrong car?
