Gill's Avenger makes a nasty right turn, right off the line, and Pat Austin is going to the final round, with the best lap of the weekend in his pocket.

Jones got the head start, but Cheeseman caught him by the 60' mark and just stretched it from there. He was leading by a tenth at the eighth-mile, and advances to face Austin in the final, with Pat having lane choice.
