ENNIS, Texas - Results of round 2 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 14th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec:
Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed
10 Rob Wendland 5.655 253.44 Q 2 Rick Santos 5.463 257.21

0.428 5.762 223.43 E2 *****WINNER***** 0.438 5.432 259.21
1:41 PM Santos made up Wendland's small holeshot in the first 60 feet
and then opened the gap. Wendland's car danced around a bit with tire shake
at the shift point and then there was a small flash from the engine as he
neared the finish line. Santos also drove through shake, cleanly, his car
solid all the rest of the way down the strip. The Safety Safari got a little
more track time after this pair, cleaning the top end and shutdown area in
the left lane.

17 Brian Ratliff 5.810 238.91 Q 12 Lee Callaway 5.677 238.34

0.501 21.850 22.20 E2 *****WINNER***** 0.625 5.765 237.96
Ratliff's charmed life as the first alternate came to an end as soon as
he hit the throttle here, the tires going square and the chute shaking out of
the pack. He slowly towed the chute the length of the track while Callaway,
who was very late on the launch, won easily.Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed 6 Melanie Troxel 5.591 218.18 Q 14 Keith Stark 5.688 249.58 (C Friesen ) 0.561 5.445 257.95 E1 (M Hentges ) 0.503 5.481 259.51 *****WINNER***** 0.477 5.362 265.95 E2 0.479 8.713 67.28The winner here will face Santos in the semifinals, setting up a blown alcohol versus nitro burner race to get into the finals. Troxel got almost no burnout at all, the tires biting rather than spinning. So much for burnouts. Stark goes into tire shake and also shakes the chutes out. Troxel storms down the lane with the fastest speed ever for the category and a pending ET record to go with it. She will have lane choice against Santos in the semifinals. Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-Rd-Qua-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed 9 Bill Reichert 5.645 243.96 Q 16 James Thompson 5.700 250.20 (T Buff ) 0.427 5.697 245.90 E1 (D Hirata ) 0.519 5.659 249.79 *****WINNER***** 0.504 5.264 250.69 E2 0.431 12.665 56.49Thompson got by Hirata in round one when Hirata had problems. Here it was Thompson with problems, severe tire shake after a huge holeshot, letting Reichert go unmolested for the win and lane choice against Callaway in the semifinals.
