TOPEKA, Kan. - Special awards following the 11th annual Advance Auto Parts Nationals, event 18 of the $40-million, 22-event 1999 NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series:

Best Appearing Car:Bowman Racing '59 Chevrolet Corvette, Super Street entry. Driver: Jarod Bowman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Best Appearing Crew:In-N-Out Dragsters, Federal-Mogul Dragsters. Drivers: Melanie Troxel, Littleton, Colo. and Rob Wendland, Lawerence Kan. .

Best Engineered:Winnebago/Itasca Dragster, Competition Eliminator entry. Driver: David Rampy, Piedmont, Ala..

Winston No Bull Challenge (The Winston No Bull Challenge is worth $100,000 to Top Fuel and Funny Car competitors; $50,000 to Pro Stock competitors; and $25,000 to Pro Stock Motorcycle competitors. Contestants are determined through lottery-style pre-race drawings) -- No winners at this event.

BIG BUD Shootout At Pomona Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel) Gary Scelzi, Fresno, Calif., Winston Dragster, 4.520 seconds, 323.74 mph.

BIG BUD Shootout At Indy Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Funny Car) û Whit Bazemore, Indianapolis, Kendall/Superwinch Chevrolet Camaro, 4.885 seconds, 298.40 mph.

Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel Award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) Richie Stevens, New Orleans, Valspar Pontiac Firebird, 6.888 seconds, 198.44 mph.

Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel Award ($1,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle) Did not compete at this event.

Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel Award ($1,500 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Truck) Bob Panella, Stockton, Calif., Panella Trucking Chevrolet S-10, 7596 seconds, 176.10 mph.

Sears Craftsman Crew Chief Of The Race Awards ($1,000 to the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock crew chiefs of the race) Larry Fraizer for Doug Herbert's Snap-On Top Fuel dragster; Austin Coil/Bernie Fedderly for John Force's Castrol GTX Ford Mustang; and Gary Pearman for Troy Coughlin's Jeg's Mail Order Oldsmobile Cutlass in Pro Stock.

Auto Ventshade "Cool Stuff" Move of the Race ($2,500 bonus available for the driver who performs the coolest under pressure) Gary Scelzi driver of the Team Winston Top Fuel dragster for returning to the driver's seat after completely destroying his Top Fuel dragster twice during finish line accidents.

Speed-Pro 200 MPH Pro Stock Club ($1,000 bonus available for Pro Stock drivers who post a speed of 200 mph. Four of 16 spots remain in the program) No winners.

Estimated four-day attendance: 98,000.
