POMONA, Calif. -
A total of $120,553 was collected at Friday's special auction held in memory
of the late John Myers. Myers, a three-time NHRA Winston Pro Stock Motorcycle
champion, was killed in a non-racing motorcycle accident in early August near
his home in Birmingham, Ala.
All money raised at the auction goes to the John Myers Memorial Fund.
John Force was the auction's biggest spender with a $48,500 contribution.
Force purchased Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme's Custom Chrome Harley Davidson
motorcycle as featured in Hot Rod Magazine for $40,000. In addition, Force
purchased a picture of Prudhomme sitting on the Harley, a wall hanging quilt
of John Myers made by Louise McClelland and a signed piece of sheet metal
from one of Richard Petty's NASCAR Winston Cup stock cars.
