5:12 PM This is it, the final run of the 1998 Winston Drag Racing season. Scelzi has been in 8 prior final rounds this year, Bernstein 6, so both drivers are used to being here. Head-to-head this year Scelzi leads 4-2 before this round.

So much for the form book, Bernstein cut the tree down and then held off the awesome Winston dragster - aided by Scelzi spinning the tires and getting a bit out of shape at mid track. That is Bernstein's fifth win of the year, Scelzi coming up one race short in his attempt to be the first to win seven races in Top Fuel. The margin of victory was a little more than a car length, about 34 feet.
