POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the 34th annual NHRA Winston Finals:

Martino the runner-up from the last race will attempt to even the score against Pawuk this year. He does that as Pawuk gets the slight starting line advantage, but Martino has the power to take the win.

Smith is using Mark Pawuk's spare car after going into the sand the other day. Stevens leaves first and just drives away from Smith. The "Kid" wins his thirteenth round in his rookie season.

Franks' car makes a weird move off the starting line, and Jeg moves on attempting to hold on to the number two spot in the points.

Thomas gets the hole-shot and holds on to win by 0.005 seconds or just over a foot.

Coughlin makes a valiant effort here, but not enough to stop the Professor as he runs the quickest pass of the round, so far.

Nobile makes a move toward the centerline and then drives in back into his lane, and when he gets out of the groove he is all over it. Kurt runs the low elapsed time of the round, so far.

Osborne in what could be his last race in a Pro Stock car as he is switching to a Kessinger Motorsports truck next year. Marnell takes a gamble on the light and it pays off here, as he is able to hold off a hard charging Osborne. Marnell wins by 0.004 seconds or just over a foot.
