POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the 34th annual NHRA Winston Finals:

The temperature is 79 degrees, humidity is 19% and the barometer is 30.01 inches. Miner has problems real early in the run, and then Lawson gets real loose, but holds on for the win.

Both cars are skating down both lanes using up all of the track.

Hough is up in smoke immediately, and pedals it one time, and then blisters the hides rest of the way through the quarter-mile. Gray takes the win light, but I could not see the run with all the tire smoke from Hough.

This is a drag race until just past half track that is when Littlefield gets real loose and is all over his lane. Austin improves on his qualifying time and takes the win.

Blue is out of the gate first, but Weaver comes charging hard, getting very close to the centerline, but tip toes down it for the win.

Hyland leaves first and never looks back, both cars skating all the way down the track.

Andreotti makes a move toward the centerline as soon as he launches and then clicks it off. Swayne takes the easy win.
